Where we stayed: Hotel Doolin
What we drove: The Wild Atlantic Way to Galway
Where we stopped:
  • Cliffs of Moher -- you basically can't be in this part of Ireland and not go to the Cliffs of Moher. It was the most touristy thing we did the whole trip, but yeah, those cliffs were pretty cool. If we had had more time, I would have loved to schedule a boat tour out of Doolin to see the cliffs from the sea.
  • Doolin Sweater Shoppe -- super cute pink exterior and filled with tons of knits
  • Tea at The Ivy Cottage before hitting the road
  • Moran's Oyster Cottage on The Weir -- a must!!! do if you like oysters. This place was so cute, and the food was incredible. Alex was pretty much consigned to eating crackers for lunch, but we were both plesantly surprised when this ended up being his favorite meal of the whole trip. He has the veggie soup, and I had a half dozen of the local oysters and a seafood stew.
  • Galway -- we walked down Shop Street which was bustling, and then cut up Buttermilk Walk to Hazel Mountain Chocolate, and Charlie Byrne's Bookshop. Our favorite little shop we found was called Coffeewerk + Press. Alex got a tea for takeaway while I coveted every single item in their Scandinavian-level minimalist shop.
  • Connemara National Park -- we had the entire park nearly to ourselves as we set out for a golden hour hike. I was fully prepared to be lazy and take the short loop, but the hike to the top is not very challenging and definitely worth the effort!
  • We stayed the night at Rosleage Manor House and I can't say enough good things about this place! I wish we had ten more nights here to enjoy the grounds, hang with Tyson the house dog, eat the delicious food, sip cocktails in the greenhouse-like barroom, and soak up the lovely pinkness of the building!

Annika
